Deer near the garden

A single whitetail crossed Parkview Lane tonight, heading toward the garden.

I was walking the dog and some instinct told me to look behind me.  As soon as I turned, the deer crossed behind me, very close.

The dog was smelling something beside the road and never knew the deer was there.
