Centaurea montana in our garden.

Blackhaw Viburnum

Blackhaw Viburnum in our garden.

Redbud

Beavers in the garden?

Looks like beaver chewing to me.

Helenium 'Helena Red Shades'

https://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/helenium-autumnale-helena-red-shades

I am a big fan of Sneezeweed.

In our garden, the old fashioned yellow Sneezeweed always outperforms the red shades.

I would be very interested to see how this one compares.

Agastache 'Blue Boa'

https://www.bluestoneperennials.com/AGBB.html

We have a lot of the native Agastache foeniculum in our garden.

I would be very interested to see how this named variety performed in comparison.

Eupatorium 'Baby Joe'

Eupatorium 'Baby Joe'

We have a lot of the species Joe Pye Weed in our garden, and I am a big fan.

But this shorter, less floppy variety would be more than welcome in our garden.

Morning Glory and Nasturtium

I planted seeds into pots and hanging baskets today.

Morning Glory 'Scarlett O'Hara' from Burpee

Nasturtium 'Tall Mixed Colors' from Sean Conway

I have great expectations.

Flowering Dogwood 'Cherokee Chief'

Flowering Dogwood 'Cherokee Chief' in a neighbor's yard.

The buds are just starting to show color.

Our own 'Cherokee Chief' has no flower buds, but it is much younger.

The neighbor said it was 25 years before his bloomed the first time.

Flowering Quince

Flowering Quince in a neighbor's yard.  Very nice.

Goldfish in the garden pool

The latest batch of goldfish for the garden pool.

$0.20 per fish.

I put them into the garden pool, 20 minutes later, I could not see any, they had all dispersed into the cover.

Lavender Twist Weeping Redbud

More food for thought.

White Fountain Weeping Cherry

Food for thought.

Celandine Poppy

I love this woodland poppy.

We only have one left, inside the fence of Abbey's garden.

The deer devoured all the ones outside the fence.

Species tulips

My good friend Jim once encouraged us to get into species tulips.

We planted a bunch of them, too few remain.

Frog near the garden pool

Looks like a healthy specimen.

Hawk near the garden

Too small to be a red-tailed hawk, not sure what this is.

Frog in the garden pool

I counted eight frogs in the garden pool.

Mayapple

Garden near our house.

One of the nicest stands of Mayapple in the neighborhood.

Trillium

In a garden near our house.

Probably the best stand of Trillium in the neighborhood.

Forsythia

In a garden near our house.

Maybe the best Forsythia in the neighborhood.

Frogs in the garden pool

I saw eight (8) frogs in the garden pool a couple of days ago, but no goldfish.

Columbine 'Songbird Cardinal'

Newly planted Columbine 'Songbird Cardinal.'

We have mixed success with Columbines.  The ones we plant are short-lived, but their children seed around the garden.

Magnolia 'Leonard Messel'

Magnolia 'Leonard Messel' at dusk.

Not the showiest of Magnolia varieties, but a reliable performer in the heavy clay of Zone 5.
